This jacket looks fantastic, minimal and unfussy and feels great on, it's heavy and solid. The design and cut is such that movement isn't restricted at all, even though the leather is thick and tough. I've had mine for several years and it's moulded beautifully to my shape but still feels like it will break in a lot more. It moves with the body and just feels great to wear. I absolutely love it and it's something no doubt my son will inherit. However I do have minor gripes. The lining has started to come away at the seam a little, not much and it's easy to repair but the lining isn't too great and that's a shame. One of the side pocket zips lost a tooth. Schott sent me an entire replacement zipper but I can't find any tailor or repair shop that will fit it for me. The zipper still works fine it's just an annoying detail. Also the plastic zip of the liner is a bit tame, and has come away at the termination, I superglued it but it's not ideal. Shame really because aside from that the jacket is really quite special, definitely most treasured item of clothing. I highly recommend the investment, it really is a classic that will never date and always be a go-to.

Having purchased this jacket in 1995 on a trip to NYC from London, England, to celebrate my 21st birthday, the jacket has stood the test of time and is now worn by my 18 year old son.

Do your research before purchasing and make sure you get your correct measurements. I initially made the mistake of buying the incorrect size not realizing how slim this jacket is.
Do not size down on this one, if anything I would recommend sizing up if you do not like your jackets to be slim fitting and if you are planning on layering.
I like my jackets to be slim fitting and only wear a t shirt underneath so I purchased mine in a 36 which is my true chest size and it fits perfectly.

I picked up a used 641 two years ago as I wanted a jacket that I could wear both on and off of the bike. $300. The pics I saw showed a jacket in good condition, but even better once it arrived. Pleasantly surprised!

I love the heft and toughness of this leather. It promises to outlive me. I feel that I'm still breaking this in.

Sizing: 5'9", 138 lbs and 38" chest. I bought a size 38 and fits generously. With lining in place, I can layer with a hoodie or thick sweater. I would imagine I could wear a 36 for a trim fit, but would probably limit layering in colder weather. Sleeves generous length in riding position and work well with gauntlet style gloves.
The styling is just classic motorbike rider without the Brando bling. I think a nice blend of function, style and durability. Great casual jacket off of the bike as well. Just feels right with boots, white t-shirt and jeans, but fine over chinos and sweater or even a button down shirt.

Pro's:
I love the matte finish and the thickness of the leather. Perfect for riding. Zippers feel appropriately sized, smooth running and the main zipper with the tab can be operated with gloved hands.
Shoulder mobility is excellent making this an ideal bike jacket. I'm one of those head on a swivel riders and appreciate the freedom of movement.
The zip out lining is a nice touch and definitely useful on cool morning commute.
The rear of the jacket is just right in the riding position. Good coverage but doesn't interfere with sitting. In riding position, sits brushes the top of the thigh, but I can flex fully.

Cons:
The distal neck snap is very difficult to fasten, especially with gloves on. I've put wax and graphite on it, but just doesn't seem to mate well. It snaps fine when folded and snapped on the retainer, so may use emory cloth on receiver part of the snap.
The hand warmer pocket zippers can be a bit rough on my tender skin and a bit too tight to insert with gloves on.
I wish all of the zippers were either antique brass or black. Just my preference.
The liner zipper on mine was wonky when it arrived, with plastic feeling teeth that were missing. I had a local shop install a new YKK zipper and now super nice to zip out/in.
Venting is limited and can make the jacket hot for summer riding. I'm only comparing this to dedicated riding jackets and realize that this jacket is not that.

I think this is a great jacket from many perspectives . The only negative I can think of is how small Schott leathers tend to run. This is my 3rd leather jacket from Schott and they all run IMO a size small compared to other brands. You need to send your specific measurements to the customer service rep before you order. They did a great job with me although it took a few emails to get there.
The steer hide is heavy and thick and feels great. I wear a 38 " suit jacket 15 collar 33 sleeves 32 inch jeans at the waist about 5'11" tall and a 40 fit me like a glove. I can maybe layer a very thin thermal or sweater under it once I break the jacket in.

The finishing on the very end of the jacket is IMO somewhat sloppy. Just cuffed up once then sewn over. I would have preferred a cleaner looking seam.

Otherwise happy with the jacket.

I have a 40” chest and bought my Schott jacket in a 40 and it allows me to move freely. The zip in liner makes it a great fall and winter option. It will age perfectly and require minimum care, enjoy.

Jacket feels like it will take quite awhile to break in because of the high quality thick leather it is made of. I can't wait until it's softens up and sits more relaxed on my body. Very high quality jacket

IM AGE 67 HEIGHT 5.7" WEIGHT 170 POUNDS I LIKE A FAIRLY SNUG FIT THE SIZE GUIDE SUGGESTED A SIZE 44 BUT I OPTED FOR A 42 I ONLY WEAR A TEE SHIRT UNDER WITH THE ZIP OUT LINER BUT FITS AND FEELS GREAT . I LOVE SCHOTT JACKETS LONG MAY THEY MAKE THEM !

Before I review I am 5’9” 160-165lbs with chest size of 42.5” (measured without a shirt on) with a pant waist size of 32”…This jacket is awesome and Jerri on the customer support side helped answer all of my questions.. It has a modern sporty style and an athletic fit. It’s heavy duty and when they say stiff, it does come stiff but it will break it just fine. The warmth this jacket provides is incredible and I believe when they say it’ll last 10 + years! Zippers are of very high quality and the length that the sleeves of the jacket come down are just below the wrist. In other words it doesn’t come close to the knuckles but it’s not too short to where your wrists are exposed. If you’re debating on this jacket, don’t, just buy it! The measurement tool provided by the site is accurate, so long as your measurement for chest size is accurate. It’s deff worth the money and their customer service will fix any issues or answer and questions you have promptly!

This jacket rocks, thought it would be stiffer from other reviews, but its pretty soft and looks great. I'm a 46 chest and went with a size fifty, could have gone smaller easily but like loose clothing plus like layering option. money well spent, don't see any negatives about this jacket.

This is my second Single Rider Steerhide Leather Motorcycle Jacket first one lasted 30 years, hope this one does as well.

It is as they say stiff right out of the box. Perfect quality, perfect fit. Absolutely the best.

Very High quality hard leather. Will probably last at least a lifetime. Tight in the wrist when zipped which is what I wanted for motorcycling.

This jacket is literally the best and is definitely worth it. I got mine 18 years ago with my first motorcycle and have completely loved it. I’m doing the review now because I’m shopping for a Schott for my wife and I saw all these reviews and realized people need to know the quality they are getting when they buy one of these. It comes a bit stiff in the beginning but then breaks in over time to feel like second skin. I bought mine a little bigger and long in the sleeve because I’m 6’6” tall and wanted some room while riding. I’m a 44L in a suit. I got a 46L in the jacket and it’s just right for what I was looking to achieve. In hindsight, my correct size would also have fit great, but I just wanted a little extra room while riding. You’ll love it!

I had wanted this jackets for years but had trouble spending the money. I didn't have access to a retail outlet to see the jacket up close. Trusting what you see on the internet and believe the reviews can be difficult.

My jacket arrived yesterday. It is perfect. The workmanship is unbelievable. The leather quality is uniform and without defect. I feel like I should have paid more. I'm certain it will take some time to soften the leather so that it conforms to my shape.

I was bouncing between a 42 and 44 because of the size recommendations on the site. I wear a 42 for suits, etc and sometimes so can be larger than I like. I bought a 44 for this jacket. Glad I did. You should follow the recommendations on the site and probably size up from your normal unless you want it to be tighter than a glove.

The fact that Schott has been in business since the early 1900s, their Jackets are made right in NYC and James Dean wore their jackets is enough said. Once I opened my package and held this bad boy, I instantly knew this jacket was made with stellar quality and craftsmanship.

Wearing this jacket not only has boosted my testosterone levels and sky rocketed my sex appeal.

Absolutely the best leather jacket I’ve ever come across.... After much research and comparison study, I ordered this model in size 48. I’m 6ft, 195lbs with a 45in chest and 34in waist. This fits snug but loose enough with liner to add a sweatshirt. Arms are the right length for riding too. Solid thick leather -not like the thin crap from India or China. Just check out the video review on Revzilla if you’re serious. No armor? Hey, no big deal as you could wear an armored shirt if that worried. I have several leather riding jackets, all with armor inserted. I wanted something that was functional but also cool enough to wear out too without looking like Ironman. Great jacket. Thanks team!

I wanted a tough jacket. And I did want to have slim fit. With 42 chest, 31 waist and flat stomach I decided to order 641 in size 42.
I got exellent fit. And thanks to great cut I am able to make somersaults, push-ups and pull-ups without any restrictions to my movements.
It is not only for on-bike, also for off-bike.

Overall this is a great jacket, a couple of things could be improved:

* zipper setup for lining seems flimsier and of lower quality than the rest of the jacket
* wish it had inside pockets other than the one in the removable lining

This jacket meets or exceeds all my expectations. Fit is one size small in my opinion but Shott is very easy to deal with and customer service is exceptional. Bottom line this is the place to place I purchase high quality leather.

Had some problems with fit initially but customer service corrected it quickly. I am very pleased with the fit and quality of the jacket.

Purchased a size 44 and it fits like a glove.
Of athletic build I stand at roughly 190 Cm and 103 Kg and personally find this specific jacket extremely comfortable. With a beautiful trim, the sleeves are perfect length and the jacket cuts of just right at the hips. I have got to say that the inner removable lining makes a big difference riding in Auckland (NZ) weather and I highly recommend this jacket for anyone riding in similar weather. Surprisingly I can even fit a merino sweater or a hoodie underneath it if she's a tad fresh.
I wear this jacket every chance I get on and off the road and everyone loves it. I even make reasons to wear it. I love it, best jacket I might have ever worn and it has exceeded my every expectation.

I’m very happy with the quality and workmanship on the jacket, I have an athletic physique and except for the bicep area being a little snug the jacket fits well. I haven’t gotten to wear it outside or on the bike because it’s still a little warm out,but I’m sure I’ll love it.

So this review is probably redundant considering how many five-star reviews they receive but it is as much about the company as it is about the product. If you are the kind of person that appreciates quality in terms of both products and service, there really is no better jacket to buy than Schott. The jackets themselves are really indestructible works of art... unbeatable quality and style that will last you forever. I own two that are over 20 years old (a 618 and a 641, both which I ride in) and while they don’t look new, nor what I want them to, they are in fantastic shape. If you do ever find your jacket in need of repair, Schott makes the process unbelievably easy and affordable. My experience has been that their product knowledge, skill, and dedication to customer service are simply unsurpassed. Buy American... buy a Schott. You will not be disappointed.

The quality and craftsmanship of this jacket are unbelievable. Every time I wear someone comments, because you can just tell it's the highest quality. The fit is perfect to my suit size 44. You need to understand it is a MOTORCYCLE jacket, so the fit is not supposed to be loose or wind gets underneath. I absolutely love it, worth every penny!
